Focus Monitor is a lightweight, privacy-first extension that quietly counts the short-form videos you watch across YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels and TikTok — then helps you stop before an hour disappears. WHAT IT DOES Counts everything in one place. A small floating panel on each platform shows how many shorts you've watched and how much time you've spent — today, this week, this month and this year. Drag it anywhere on the page. Stops the doomscroll, gently. After a number of shorts you choose (e.g. 10), a full-screen prompt pauses the video and asks "Time for a break?" — with a snapshot of your day, week and month so the choice stays yours. Defer on your terms. Not ready to stop? Snooze for the next N shorts, or for X minutes — whichever fits the moment. Detailed stats dashboard. Per-platform breakdowns, a last-30-days bar chart, a 12-month overview and a day-by-day detail table. Switch between count and time, and filter by platform. Two trigger modes. Streak mode counts since your last break; daily mode triggers on every Nth short today. HOW TO USE IT 1. Install the extension — no account or sign-in needed. 2. Open YouTube Shorts, Facebook or Instagram Reels, or TikTok. A small counter panel appears while you watch. 3. After your chosen number of shorts, a full-screen break reminder appears. Take a break, head back to work, or defer. 4. Click the extension icon (or the chart icon on the panel) to open the statistics dashboard and adjust settings. PRIVACY Everything stays on your device. No accounts, no servers, no analytics, no tracking. The only permission requested is "storage", used purely to save your counters and settings locally via chrome.storage. No video URLs, titles or watch content are ever transmitted off your device.
