Overview

Show simple English meanings for selected words, idioms, and sentences without leaving the page.

A small personal Chrome/Edge/Firefox extension for focused reading. Select a word, idiom, or sentence on a normal web page, right-click, and choose **Explain meaning of...**. A meaning panel appears on the same page so you do not have to open a new tab. You can also use Ctrl + click or Option + click for quick lookup, with a per-site option to disable it. It uses the free Dictionary API at `dictionaryapi.dev`. Adds Wiktionary as a second free meaning source for many single words. Adds Datamuse/OneLook as a fallback for jargon, uncommon words, related terms, and phrases. The extension lets you type a new word or phrase directly in the meaning panel and keeps the last five searches locally in the browser for quick review. It sends only the text you look up to the active free dictionary sources. Does not send broader browsing history, full page contents, cookies, account information, or analytics events.
