MAKAN Translate

Translate text, selection, and web pages with free engines or your own AI key. English & Persian (RTL), privacy-first.

MAKAN Translate is a privacy-first translation extension for reading and browsing in English, Persian (Farsi) and many other languages. Translate selected text, single words, or entire web pages using free online engines, your own AI service key, or a model running on your own computer. KEY FEATURES: ★ Selection Card Select text on any webpage and a small "M" button appears. Click it to open a card with the translation, pronunciation audio, dictionary entries and natural equivalents. ★ Full-Page Translation Translate a whole page with one click while keeping its layout, links and tables. Right-to-left styling is applied automatically for Persian, Arabic and Urdu, and "Show Original" restores the page instantly. ★ Your Choice of Engine • Free online engines work with no setup. • Optional: add your own key for an AI translation service of your choice. • Optional: connect to a local model running on your own computer, so nothing is sent over the internet. • Auto mode tries your chosen engines in order and falls back if one is unavailable. ★ Offline Dictionary and Idioms Look up words and idioms from built-in offline packs to understand figurative meaning, not only literal translation. ★ Read Aloud Listen to the pronunciation using your browser's voices. ★ Works with the MAKAN web app and Windows app Send a translation to the web app with one click. ★ Privacy by Design • No telemetry, no tracking. • Translates only when you ask (button, context menu or keyboard shortcut). • Never reads password fields, payment forms or other sensitive inputs. • Your keys stay on your device and are sent only to the service you chose.
