Learn a language while watching shows. Subtitle Translator turns any HTML5 video player's subtitles into an interactive dictionary - in either direction: pick the language the subtitles are in and the language you want them translated into. **Hover a word - see its translation instantly.** Translation runs on your device via Chrome's built-in AI (Chrome 138+, desktop): free, private, works offline once the language model is downloaded. **Understand whole phrases, not just words.** The tooltip and the optional dual-subtitle line show a translation of the entire sentence - split subtitle lines are stitched back together first, so the translator sees real sentences. Add your free DeepL API key (500k characters/month) and phrase translation becomes idiom-aware: "dirty pool" stops being about swimming. **Press Alt+E** for an on-device AI explanation of a phrase - idioms, slang, phrasal verbs, explained in your language. **Build your vocabulary.** Click any word to save it with the full sentence as context - click it again to take it back out. Drag across several words to save the whole phrase with its translation - the way idioms and set expressions actually need to be learned.
