Floaty Tiles for Google Maps

Overlays Uber H3 hexagon tiles on Google Maps. Show and fill resolution-8 tiles — the grid Floaty uses to log your flights.

Floaty Tiles overlays the Uber H3 hexagonal grid on Google Maps. The Floaty flight-logging app tracks which parts of the world you have flown over using tiles from Uber’s H3 grid system at resolution 8 (hexagons of roughly 0.7 km² each). This extension shows that same grid directly on Google Maps, so you can plan flights and see your conquered tiles in a familiar map. Features: - H3 grid overlay on regular Google Maps — pan and zoom as usual, the grid follows - Adaptive mode picks a resolution automatically (~500 hexagons in view); explicit mode lets you choose exactly which of the 16 H3 resolutions (0–15) to show - Resolution 8 — Floaty’s tile size — is highlighted in red by default, just like in Floaty; every resolution’s color is configurable - Import your Floaty ride exports (GPX, JSON or CSV, multiple files at once) to fill every tile you’ve ridden (red) and draw your ride paths — files are processed locally in your browser and never uploaded - Hover a ride path to highlight it and see its name and date; rename, delete and export your rides as KML (for Google My Maps, or to share with friends) - Shift-click a resolution-8 tile to mark it as planned (blue) — tiles you still want to ride; riding and importing them turns them red - Hover any hexagon to see its H3 index; click the badge to copy it Works on google.com/maps in Chrome, Brave, Edge and other Chromium browsers.
