FLIPFOLIO — Drawing & Animation New Tab

Turn your new tab into a local drawing and animation studio with layers, frames, keyframes and offline GIF export.

A quiet page for ideas that do not want to sit still. FLIPFOLIO replaces your browser's New Tab page with a focused drawing and short-animation studio. Draw a sketch, turn it into a loop, and keep an editable copy on your device. No account, no analytics, and no cloud rendering service. DRAW ON A REAL CANVAS Use ink, soft pencil, eraser, rectangles, ellipses and lines on a 960 × 640 canvas. Choose colors, stroke size, fill and paper color. Select and move individual marks. Import local PNG, JPEG or WebP images. Organize artwork in up to eight named layers with opacity, locking, visibility and reordering. GIVE YOUR DRAWINGS TIME Create up to 120 frames. Insert held drawings or an empty drawing on the active layer, reorder frames, and see adjacent frames with onion skin. Held drawings use copy-on-write: editing one frame does not silently change all its neighbors. Set a loop range and play at 1–30 frames per second. MOVE A LAYER BETWEEN KEYS Animate layer position, rotation, scale and alpha with smooth, linear or held keyframe transitions. Combine drawn frame changes with layer movement. Keyframe motion transforms your artwork; it does not invent intermediate drawings or generate artwork with AI. KEEP THE EDITABLE ORIGINAL Use bounded undo/redo while editing. Keep up to twelve local projects, or start with the editable Paper flight example. Export and import .flipfolio project files for a portable backup. Only one tab edits the shared local workspace at a time when browser storage and locking are available. EXPORT SOMETHING USEFUL Export a full-resolution PNG still, a 480 × 320 looping GIF, or a sprite sheet with a JSON frame map. GIF uses a fixed 256-color palette. Sprite-sheet cells are 240 × 160. The browser handles file downloads and may ask to allow the sheet's two files. IMPORTANT BOUNDARIES This version is a 2D drawing and short-animation studio, not an audio/video editor. It does not export WebM or MP4. Local browser data is not a backup: export editable project files before uninstalling or clearing browser data. A storage warning means work may exist only in the current tab. Undo history and view settings do not survive closing the tab. FLIPFOLIO changes the New Tab page. Disable or remove it to restore the browser's previous New Tab behavior. It does not read browsing pages, history, cookies, passwords or bookmarks.
