FlashStory — Blocking Editor for AI Video
Overview
Place a character to the centimetre and a camera to the frame — for free — then let your AI video model copy the result.
Every AI video generation costs money and comes back different. FlashStory is the cheap half of that trade. It is a browser-based 3D blocking editor. You settle the five things that actually send you back for another expensive re-roll — position, facing, scale, action and timing — before you spend a single credit, then export a guide video the model copies instead of guessing at. Today's video models (Seedance, Kling, Veo and friends) all accept a reference video and reproduce its staging with high fidelity. What they cannot do is guess what "the camera pushes in from behind her left shoulder while she turns and walks to the window" was supposed to look like — and paying to find out, over and over, is where the budget actually goes. A few minutes of blocking replaces that. Everything runs locally in your browser. No account, no server, nothing uploaded. WHAT'S IN IT • Low-poly cast — 15 procedurally proportioned body types (5 ages x 3 builds), height set in centimetres, and six high-contrast identity colours so every character stays traceable from shot to shot. • Poses and motion — 20 built-in poses plus your own, keyframed on a timeline with linear / ease / hold / spring easing and an editable curve. • Cameras — several named cameras per shot, a camera-switch track, picture-in-picture preview, align-to-view, and a split lens/editor layout. • Staging — boxes, planes, cylinders, bendable image boards, panorama rings and imported GLB models for rough set dressing. • Dialogue track — timed lines per character, duration estimated from speaking rate, exported at exact timecodes. • Export bundle — one click produces a zip containing guide_video.mp4 (encoded in the browser with WebCodecs), color_mapping.md, prompt_suggestion.md, shots.json, scene.json and the character reference sheets. • AI directing — hand the blocking itself to a model. Point it at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint with your own API key and it adds characters, blocks movement, keyframes the camera and adjusts joints, taking its own screenshots to check the framing. Every change arrives as a normal, undoable edit, validated exactly like a human one. • Projects — multiple projects kept in IndexedDB with autosave, plus zip import and export. • Bilingual UI (English / 简体中文), light and dark themes, 16:9 / 9:16 / 1:1, 24 fps. WHAT IT IS NOT It does not try to render a pretty picture. The characters are faceless mannequins on purpose — the only things that matter are position, facing, scale, action and timing. The final imagery comes from your video model, guided by the reference sheets and the colour map in the exported bundle. PRIVACY FlashStory requests no browser permissions, reads no web pages, and has no analytics. Your scenes stay in your browser's local storage. If you choose to enable AI directing or S3/R2 asset upload, your credentials are stored locally and requests go straight from your browser to the endpoint you configured — never through us. Open the editor by clicking the toolbar icon; it opens in a full page tab.
