Overview

Block ads everywhere including YouTube. Built-in VPN proxy, WebRTC protection, anti-fingerprinting.

Block every ad. Reach every site. One extension does both. ShieldBrowse removes ads on video sites, social media, news sites, and forums — and routes traffic through a proxy you control so you can reach sites that are geo-blocked or censored where you are. 243,000+ network filter rules, compiled from 16 community filter lists. WHAT IT BLOCKS Video ads — pre-roll, mid-roll, overlay, and short-form video ads Website ads — banners, pop-ups, interstitials, sticky ads, native ads Trackers — analytics scripts, conversion pixels, and session recorders Cookie consent popups — hides GDPR and CCPA banners with element-hiding rules Crypto miners — blocks known browser-based mining scripts Malware domains — blocks known phishing and malvertising URLs, via the URLhaus and uBlock badware filter lists Tracking parameters — strips 38 tracking tags from URLs automatically Anti-adblock walls — neutralizes the detection scripts behind "please disable your ad blocker" overlays HOW IT WORKS ShieldBrowse uses the same four techniques as uBlock Origin and AdGuard, built on Manifest V3: Network blocking — 243,000+ static declarativeNetRequest rules compiled at build time from EasyList, EasyPrivacy, AdGuard, and uBlock Origin filter lists, plus a curated ruleset that closes coverage gaps. Redirect resources — 826 rules swap known ad and analytics scripts for neutered stubs instead of hard-blocking them. Pages keep working, and anti-adblock scripts do not see a dead request to complain about. Per-site scriptlets — 15,522 sites get targeted fixes drawn from 81 scriptlet types, aimed at the site-specific counters that power anti-adblock walls. Generic blocking cannot beat a counter written for one site; this can. Cosmetic filtering — 72,157 element-hiding selectors across 20,419 sites remove the leftover empty containers where ads used to be. BUILT-IN PROXY Supports HTTP, HTTPS, and SOCKS5 proxy protocols Manual mode routes all traffic through your proxy server Auto mode routes only blocked or censored sites through the proxy WebRTC leak protection keeps your real IP from leaking via STUN Geolocation spoofing stops sites reading GPS coordinates that contradict your proxy's location Works with any SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy provider Auto-detects blocked sites and suggests adding them to proxy routing ShieldBrowse does not include or resell proxy service. You supply the server. READER MODE Extracts the main article from a page and renders it distraction-free. Serif typography with automatic dark mode. Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+R PRIVACY Zero data collection. All filtering runs locally in your browser. No account required. Install and go. No "acceptable ads" program. Nothing is allowlisted for payment. Referrer control strips cross-origin referer headers. Cookie auto-clear removes a site's cookies when you close its tab. Fingerprinting mitigation adds noise to canvas, WebGL, and audio-context readings and blocks known fingerprinting endpoints. This is mitigation, not immunity — a site that ships its own first-party fingerprinting can still run it, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise.
