Overview

Ask questions about webpages with Halo AI. Runs on your device; nothing is sent to a server.

Halo AI — Understand webpages, YouTube videos, and PDFs Bring your questions to the content you’re already viewing. Halo AI helps you find information, summarize long pages, explore video transcripts, and review selected browser tabs from a convenient assistant beside your content. Whether you’re researching a topic, studying a tutorial, comparing information, or reading documentation, Halo helps you turn lengthy content into something easier to use. Learn more from YouTube videos Use a video’s readable captions or transcript to explore what the speaker says. • Get a summary with main points arranged in time order. • Extract key points from different parts of the video. • Get a brief overview of the video’s central idea. • Ask specific questions about topics mentioned in the transcript. • View the available full transcript with timestamps. • Review supported YouTube video tabs alongside other selected sources. Timestamped passages help you connect an answer with the relevant part of the video. Transcript-based reading does not require waiting for the entire video to play. Optional transcription when captions are unavailable For supported videos without readable captions, Halo can offer to create a transcript from the tab’s audio using on-device speech recognition. Audio capture starts only after you choose to begin. This process plays the video and takes time; it is not an instant transcript download. The speech model requires an initial download, and transcription speed depends on your device. Automatically recognized speech may contain mistakes. Ask questions about webpages Find information in articles, documentation, product pages, service descriptions, and other readable web content. Ask about prices, dates, contact details, opening hours, requirements, policies, lists, or information in tables. Follow up in the same conversation to explore the subject further. When the current page does not contain enough information, Halo can check related pages on the same website. Summarize, simplify, and extract key facts Choose a quick tool to: • Summarize a long page into a shorter overview. • Explain difficult content in simpler language. • Pull out important facts and details. • Review information without repeatedly searching through the page. Read across selected tabs Choose which supported open tabs Halo should read. Bring information from several sources into one conversation, get summaries for individual sources, or ask comparison questions. Source references help you see where information came from. When requested details cannot be confirmed, or sources contain different values, Halo can flag the incomplete comparison or conflicting information. Work with text-based PDFs Ask questions about supported PDFs, summarize their readable text, and find important details in documents. PDF reading happens on your device. Support depends on the document being accessible and containing selectable text. Scanned image-only PDFs, password-protected files, and documents exceeding processing limits may not be readable. Find your way around a website Ask where a menu, section, or feature appears on the current page. Halo can provide navigation steps and, when available, offer a “Show me” action that highlights the relevant control. For supported collapsed menus, Halo can request your approval to reveal the menu before showing the target. Choose Fast or Smart mode Fast mode uses Halo’s built-in readers for quick responses. Smart mode uses Chrome’s on-device AI when available to produce more natural written answers. Availability and performance depend on your browser, model readiness, and device. If a Smart attempt takes too long, Halo falls back to its Fast reader. Keep useful responses Copy answers or export responses as PDF or Word documents for your notes, research, or later reference. Designed for private, focused reading Halo processes page content and captured audio on your device rather than sending them to a cloud AI service. Internet access may still be needed to retrieve webpages, captions, or required model downloads. Open Halo from its floating page button or Chrome’s side panel. A readable dark interface and one conversation scrollbar keep your questions close to the content. Install Halo AI to spend less time searching through pages and transcripts—and more time understanding the information you need.
