Tare

Checks the reviews on an Amazon product page for padding.

A kitchen scale has a button called tare. You put the empty bowl on, press it, and the scale forgets the bowl. Whatever you weigh after that is only what's inside. Amazon reviews come with a lot of bowl. A five-star review about fast shipping. A glowing review of a different product that used to live on the same listing. "Great!!" and nothing else. They all count toward the stars, and none of them tell you whether the thing works. Tare takes those out and weighs the rest. Open a product page on amazon.com or amazon.in and Tare reads the reviews. It sets aside the ones that say nothing about the product, counts what the others say, and leads with the most common problem: "15 of 76 say the lid broke." Every number opens to the reviews behind it, so you never have to take Tare's word for it.
