Overview

Fill any video to the window, no black bars. Drag to pan, seek bar with volume, click ✕ or Esc to exit.

FitView makes any video fill your browser window — with no black bars. Unlike real fullscreen, FitView keeps your tabs, address bar, and taskbar visible. It just takes the video, blows it up to fill the whole window, and crops away the black bars (object-fit: cover). Perfect for watching a video while everything else stays where it is. WHAT IT DOES • Click the toolbar icon — the largest video on the page fills the window edge to edge. • No black bars. Vertical or ultrawide window, the video always fills it (the overflowing side is cropped). • Drag the video in any direction to pan — when the picture is cropped, slide it so what you want to see (like a presenter sitting off to one side) moves into view. The axis that isn't cropped simply stays put. • A hover-in seek bar with its own volume control, so you keep full playback control even when the native controls get cropped away. • Works inside iframes, so embedded players (news sites, live streams) are supported too. • Not real fullscreen — the tab bar, address bar, and taskbar all stay visible. CONTROLS • Drag up/down/left/right to pan the crop. • Move the mouse to bring up the seek bar — scrub to seek, hover for a time tooltip, and it shows how much is buffered. It fades out after a couple of seconds. • Press ← / → to jump 5 seconds back or forward. • Volume — click the speaker to mute/unmute, or hover it for a vertical slider. • Click the video to play/pause (the seek bar has a play/pause button too). • Click ✕ at the bottom-right of the bar, press Esc, or click the icon again, to exit. • Live streams: the seek bar has nothing to scrub, so it hides — but play/pause, volume, and ✕ stay available. • An "ON" badge on the icon shows when FitView is active. • Prefer a keyboard shortcut?
