Overview
Reach for a site you've paused and you'll find the night sky instead, with a few lines of a poem. A moment to look up.
Most of us have a slightly uncomfortable relationship with some of the sites we visit. We reach for them without really deciding to, and afterwards we often wish we hadn't. Fireflies is a small thing we made for that moment. When you're on a site you'd rather keep away from, press the Fireflies button and it's paused. The next time you reach for it, the page doesn't load... Instead you find the night sky, drawn from NASA's star map of the Milky Way, and a few lines of a poem appear slowly in the dark. There are three hundred of them, all written by people who were looking up at this same sky. And if you'd like to stay a while, the sky is there to wander. As you move across it, constellations draw themselves in gently. Some were first traced thousands of years ago, and people have been telling stories about them ever since. It was important to us that it never scolds you. There's no countdown to sit through and no button to get past, because anything you can wait out, you eventually will, and then it's just one more thing in your way. So the sky simply stays, for as long as you'd like to look at it. If you want the site back, you can unpause it in the settings. There's no account and nothing to set up. Your list stays with your own browser, it works without a connection, and we don't collect anything at all. It's a small thing, but we made it with a great deal of care. We hope it gives you a little more calm, and perhaps even a smile. 4ge Studio Write to us at hello@4ge.studio
