Find & Replace in Text Fields

Find and replace text already typed into text boxes and editable areas on the current page. Supports regular expressions.

Find and replace text you have already typed into web forms — right on the page. Press Alt+Shift+F (or click the toolbar icon) to open a small find bar, just like Ctrl+F, with a replace box and four buttons: • Next – go to the next match (Shift+Enter for previous) • Replace – replace the current match • Replace & Next – replace the current match and move to the next one • Replace All – replace every match in every text field on the page FEATURES • Works with text boxes, text areas and rich-text editors (contenteditable) • Regular expressions with capture groups ($1, $<name>, $&) • The current match is highlighted and scrolled into view • Changes go through the browser's normal editing, so Ctrl+Z undo works and web apps notice the change • Your last search and replacement text are remembered across tabs until you close the browser • Light and dark themes, English and Japanese interface KEYBOARD • Enter / Shift+Enter in the find box: next / previous match • Enter in the replace box: Replace & Next • Ctrl+Enter in the replace box: Replace All • Esc: close • The shortcut can be changed at chrome://extensions/shortcuts PRIVACY The extension only runs on a tab when you open it with the icon or the shortcut. It does not collect, store or send any of your data. No analytics, no ads, no network requests. LIMITATIONS • Read-only, disabled, password and number fields are skipped. • Text fields inside iframes and editors that draw their own text (such as Google Docs) are not supported. • Extensions cannot run on chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store.
