Overview
Select a date on any web page to see how old you and your family were that day — with weekday and how long ago. All local.
Find My Age is a Chrome extension that tells you how old you and your family were on a date you select on any web page. Reading an old news article, a company history, a timeline, or the date on a photo, the question "how old was I then?" is answered in place, without leaving the page. Everything runs inside your browser. Page content and the dates you select are never sent to any server. [Example] Selecting "August 12, 1995" August 12, 1995 Saturday Me 17 years old Father 45 years old Mother 42 years old Child Not born yet 30 years ago [When it helps] - Reading old news articles or timelines Select a date in the article and see how old you and your family were. - Looking through a company history or an archive Select a founding date or an event date and place it next to your own age. - Checking the date on a photo or in an album Select the date it was taken and see roughly how old everyone in it was. - Thinking about future plans and milestones Future dates work too - see how old you will be at a graduation, a retirement, or an anniversary. [Main features] - Answers where you selected No other site, no calculator. Select a date on the page, a small button appears, and pressing it opens a result card. - Your family at once Register up to 5 people, yourself included. One action shows everyone's age side by side. - Weekday, how long ago, and the Japanese era year For a full date the card also shows the weekday and how many years ago (or ahead) it is. On a Japanese interface it shows the Japanese era year as well. - Choose what the card shows The era year, weekday, distance from today and date of birth can each be turned on or off - useful when you are sharing your screen. - Copy the result The card's contents can be copied to the clipboard. Dates of birth are not included in the copied text. - Reacts only when the selection really is a date The button appears only when the whole selection reads as a date, so prices, phone numbers and part numbers are left alone. Ordinary selecting and copying are never interrupted. - No account needed No sign-up, no login. [Date formats it understands] The whole selection must be the date. - 2024/08/12, 2024-08-12, 2024.8.12 - 2024/08, 2024-08 - August 12, 2024 / 12 August 2024 / August 2024 - 2024 (a four-digit year on its own) - Japanese-style notation: 2024年8月12日, 2024年8月, 2024年 Selecting a month or a year alone gives the age as a range (for example, 17-18 years old). Japanese era years are shown, but they are not accepted as input. Explicitly marked dates are supported from 1868 onward, a bare four-digit year from 1900 onward, and up to about 100 years into the future. [Privacy] All of Find My Age's work happens inside your browser. - Page content and page URLs are never sent to any server - The dates you select and the results shown are never stored or transmitted - No browsing history is collected - No ads - No analytics, no telemetry - No account required The people you register (display name, date of birth, colour, order, whether to show them) and your settings are kept only in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local). They are not synced to your other devices; dates of birth are deliberately kept out of synced storage. To show ages, Find My Age reads the text you have selected. That access is used to decide locally whether the selection is a date, never to transmit anything. The text is discarded as soon as that decision is made. [What Find My Age does not do] - Send page content or URLs to any server - Store or sync dates of birth to the cloud - Collect browsing history or usage statistics - Use any information for advertising - Rewrite or annotate every date on a page automatically - Show East Asian age reckoning, zodiac signs, or school years [Please note] Ages are counted by whether the birthday had already come on the selected date. Japanese era years are shown for Gregorian dates from 1868 (Meiji 1) onward; earlier dates are not supported. Depending on how a site is built, a selected date may not always be recognised. What the card shows is for reference. For official procedures or contracts, always check the primary source. [Support] Please use the support page for bugs, date formats that are not recognised, and requests. Find My Age is free. How old were we on that date? Select it, and you know.
