Overview

Search page text with SQL-style wildcards and regular expressions.

Find++ gives you more ways to search text on a webpage. Search for an exact phrase, use SQL-style wildcards to match variations, or enter a regular expression. Find++ highlights results and lets you move between them. ◆ SEARCH MODES • TEXT — Searches for the text you enter literally. • WILDCARDS — Use % to match zero or more characters and _ to match one Unicode character. Other characters are treated literally. • REGULAR EXPRESSION — Search with JavaScript regular expressions. ◆ OPTIONS AND NAVIGATION • CASE — Distinguishes uppercase and lowercase. • WORD — Adds whole-word matching. • See the current match position and count, with wrap-around at the end of the results. • Press Enter for the next match or Shift+Enter for the previous match. • Open Find++ from the toolbar or press Alt+Shift+F. Change or disable the shortcut in Chrome’s extension shortcut settings. • Select ? in the panel to open the quick manual. Matches are highlighted up to the display limit. The active result is marked with a different underline as well as a different color. The panel follows your system’s light or dark appearance. ◆ SEARCH SCOPE AND LIMITS Find++ searches visible rendered text in the current page’s main document, one text node at a time. It does not join text split across separate page elements. It skips hidden content and does not search form values, image descriptions, iframe content, or shadow-root content. It does not read password fields. Page changes are rescanned while the panel is open. To keep large pages responsive, each scan is limited to 2 million characters and 100,000 text nodes. Highlighting is capped at 1,000 matches. Regular-expression searches that take too long are stopped. ◆ PRIVACY Searches run locally in your browser. Find++ does not send your search terms or page content to a server. Search preferences and your last search are saved locally; use the clear button to remove them. Requires Chrome 116 or later. Extensions cannot run on some browser pages, including Chrome’s internal pages.
