Fill Mode
Overview
Removes video black bars with custom & vertical (9:16) aspect ratio support.
Fill Mode removes letterboxing — the black bars above, below, or beside a video — by zooming and cropping the video to fill your screen whenever the video's aspect ratio doesn't match your display. Unlike similar extensions, Fill Mode has first-class support for vertical (pivot) monitors and fully custom aspect ratios. It shines when you watch 16:9 video on a portrait monitor, or regular video on an ultrawide. ■ Features • 10 ratio presets — landscape (16:10, 16:9, 18:9, 21:9, 32:9) and portrait (9:16, 9:18, 9:21, 10:16, 3:4) • Custom ratios — type any ratio like "9:19.5" or any resolution like "2160x3840" • Manual zoom — fine-tune from 0.5x to 4.0x in 0.05 steps • Pan control — move the cropped area with a D-pad or numeric input. The position is remembered per site, persists across videos, and can be reset independently • Fullscreen support — control everything with in-page keyboard shortcuts even in fullscreen, with instant feedback via an on-screen HUD • Remappable shortcuts — change every key from the options page; works regardless of your keyboard's IME language • 6 languages — English, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and French ■ How to use 1. On a page with a video, click the Fill Mode icon in the toolbar 2. The popup shows your monitor's and the video's resolution and aspect ratio 3. Click the preset that matches your monitor — the black bars disappear 4. Optionally fine-tune the zoom with +/− and shift the visible area with the D-pad ■ Default shortcuts (in-page, also work in fullscreen) • Z — toggle on/off • X — cycle ratio presets • [ / ] — decrease/increase zoom • Shift + arrows — pan • Shift + X — reset position ■ Supported sites YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+ are handled with player-specific tuning; on every other site the extension automatically finds the largest video on the page. Players inside iframes are supported too. ■ Privacy Fill Mode collects and transmits no data whatsoever. There are no analytics and no external servers; your settings live only in the browser's storage (chrome.storage). Access to all sites is required solely to locate the video element and apply a CSS transform on whatever video site you visit — the extension never reads or collects page content.
