Click to Dial
Overview
Turns phone numbers on web pages into links that open your desktop phone app.
Click to Dial turns phone numbers written as plain text on web pages -- CRM screens, company sites, emails in webmail, directories -- into links. Click one and your desktop phone app opens with the number on its keypad, ready to call. (If you switch it on in the phone app's Settings, the call is placed straight away.) • Finds UK numbers (0113 496 0000, 07700 900123, +44 (0)113 496 0000, (0113) 496 0000) and international numbers that start + or 00. • Leaves alone dates, prices, IP addresses, version numbers, reference codes, and numbers that are already links or sit in form fields and code. • Keeps working as the page changes, so numbers that load later are linked too. • Right-click a selected number and choose "Call ..." for numbers it did not link. • A toolbar button shows how many numbers it found and lets you switch it off for a site or everywhere. • Settings: send +44 numbers as 0..., add a dialling prefix such as 9 for an outside line, list sites where it is off, and a "check a number" box that shows exactly what would be dialled. You need a phone app that handles phone-number (tel:) links on your computer, such as DT Desktop Direct, DT Desktop or DT One. The extension only makes numbers clickable; the phone app does the calling.
