Disconnect for YouTube

Hide YouTube's distractions — Shorts, recommendations, comments — and set limits on when and how long you watch.

YouTube is built to keep you watching. Disconnect for YouTube lets you keep the parts you came for and switch off the rest. HIDE THE PULL • Hide the home feed, Shorts, recommended videos and comments, or any one of more than 300 smaller parts of the page • Turn off autoplay and preview playback, and stop infinite scrolling • Blur, fade or drain the colour from thumbnails • Open Shorts in the normal video player and stop the swipe-to-next • Hide ads and promoted results • Works on youtube.com and the mobile site, m.youtube.com, plus embedded videos FILTER WHAT YOU SEE • Block channels by @handle, name or link • Hide videos, comments and community posts by keyword or pattern • Optionally add "Block channel" and "Block video" to YouTube's own ⋮ menus PUT A PAUSE BEFORE YOUTUBE • Entry check: a calm question and a short countdown before YouTube opens, with an optional phrase to type • Session limits: choose how long each visit lasts, and take a break when it ends • Block schedule: keep YouTube closed during work or study hours, every week • Temporary block: shut YouTube for 25 minutes, an hour, or a whole day STAY ON TRACK • Presets: separate setups for work, study or downtime, switched by hand or on a schedule • Settings protection: changing or turning off your limits needs a phrase or a password, so you can't undo them on a whim • A pause before the settings themselves open, if you want one PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-up, no tracking, no analytics • Everything stays in your browser • Back up and restore your settings with a file Disconnect for YouTube is an independent project and is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with YouTube or Google.
