WHAT'S NEW IN 3.1.0 The timer now actually runs when the popup is closed. That sentence is the whole release. In the previous version it did not. The extension registered a single background script that opened a marketing tab and did nothing else, while the real countdown, notification and alarm engine sat in a background page that modern extensions never load — written against browser APIs that do not exist in that context. There was no badge countdown, no desktop notification and no alarm sound. Ever. Version 3.1.0 is a rebuild of that engine, and of nearly everything around it. FIXED The timer engine has been rewritten from scratch. Countdowns are scheduled from absolute timestamps, so they survive the browser suspending the extension, and state lives in proper extension storage rather than page memory. The "Short Break" button started a long break, and "Long Break" started a short one. At the same time the default break lengths were inverted — fifteen minutes for a short break, five for a long one. The two mistakes cancelled each other out at factory settings, which is why nobody caught them. Both are fixed, and the defaults are now the canonical 25 / 5 / 15. Storage writes had no error handling anywhere. Filling your quota destroyed data silently. Every write is now guarded, failures are surfaced instead of swallowed, and Settings shows a live storage meter so you can see the ceiling coming. Daily history was recorded against list names rather than identities, so two lists with the same name quietly merged into one another and corrupted your statistics. Duplicate names are now rejected at entry and everything is keyed properly. A single malformed record used to blank the entire popup with no way back; reads are now resilient, and an error boundary offers an export-and-reload escape hatch if anything does go wrong. Deleting a task or a list happened instantly, on one click, with no confirmation and no way back. Destructive actions now ask first and offer undo. Deleting the task a timer was running against used to leave a phantom countdown attached to nothing. Completed tasks had no controls at all — they could never be edited or deleted. Ticking a task off sent it to the bottom of the list. Overtime was displayed as a positive number, so "two minutes over" looked exactly like "two minutes left". Sessions of an hour or more rendered as "60:00" instead of "1:00:00". The "Rate Us" link set its destination after navigation had already resolved, so it never once worked. The stylesheet stripped every focus ring in the product, making it unusable without a mouse. Full keyboard operation is now supported, including arrow-key navigation and Alt+Arrow reordering. Drag-to-reorder and click-to-edit used to fight over the same target; dragging has its own handle now. A 1.9 MB unminified development framework bundle and two webfonts shipped in the package. They are gone, along with the framework itself — the extension is now plain modern JavaScript with no dependencies. Even with forty-one fully translated languages on board, the package is a fraction of its former size. ADDED Pause and resume. The previous version offered only Finish and Cancel. Desktop notifications with "Start next" and "+5 minutes" actions, a live badge countdown, and a choice of four alarm sounds with volume control and preview. Optional ticking while you focus. Auto-start, a configurable long-break cadence, and a cycle indicator so you can see where you are in the rotation. Statistics beyond today: seven- and thirty-day views, per-list totals, current and longest streaks, a daily chart and a session timeline. Estimated sessions per task, drawn against what you actually did. Due dates with overdue highlighting. Per-list duration overrides, for when deep work and inbox triage need different rhythms. Undo for deletions. JSON backup export and import, plus CSV export of your history. Keyboard shortcuts, and the option to open the timer in a full tab. Light and dark themes with five accent colours. Idle detection that can pause your session when you step away. First-run onboarding with a starter list. PRIVACY This extension requests no host permissions and has no backend. It cannot read the pages you visit, because it never asks for access to them. Your lists, your tasks and your history stay in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is analysed, and there are no accounts to create. Export a backup whenever you like — the data is yours and it is plain JSON. LANGUAGES Fully translated into 41 languages. Every string in the interface — settings, statistics, dialogs, notifications and error messages — is localised, not just the store listing.
