FeedSanitizer – Escape the Feed Algorithm

Take control of your social feeds. Filter out noise, highlight essential topics, and clean up your timeline locally and privately.

FeedSanitizer puts you back in control of your social feeds — on X, LinkedIn, and Facebook — without sending a single byte of your feed data anywhere. The algorithm decides what you see by default. Every post you scroll past is either noise or worth your attention, and FeedSanitizer lets YOU decide which is which, using rules that run entirely on your device: HIDE WHAT YOU DON'T WANT • Keywords & phrases — plain text or regex (e.g. \$[A-Z]+ to catch stock tickers) • Specific authors, accounts, or pages • Built-in platform clutter — promoted/sponsored posts, the X right sidebar, and Facebook posts from pages you don't follow HIGHLIGHT WHAT YOU DO • Focus Topics — posts matching subjects you care about are visually highlighted instead of hidden, so signal stands out from the scroll RULES PER PLATFORM Your X rules, LinkedIn rules, and Facebook rules are configured independently — a keyword or account you block on one platform has zero effect on the others. PRIVACY BY CONSTRUCTION, NOT BY POLICY FeedSanitizer does not have a server. There is no account, no sign-in, and no telemetry collecting what you filter or read. Every rule you write and every post it matches is evaluated locally, in your browser, using chrome.storage.local. Feed content never leaves your device — there's simply nowhere for it to go. HOW IT WORKS Click the FeedSanitizer icon to quickly edit rules for whichever supported platform your active tab is on, or open the full settings page for a dashboard with a tab per platform. One shared evaluation engine runs across all platforms, so behavior stays consistent no matter which feed you're on. FeedSanitizer is under active development. Questions, bugs, or feature requests: open an issue on our GitHub repository (link in the Support section below). ## 1.1 — 2026-07-21 **New** - **Import & Export your rules.** Back up your keyword, author, and focus lists to a JSON file, or move them to another computer, from the Settings page. Rules stay scoped per platform on import. - **Catches "fancy text" keywords.** Filters now match stylized Unicode look-alikes (the fake-bold/italic characters spammers use, e.g. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘄), so a rule typed in normal text still catches disguised posts. - **Facebook — hide posts from groups you haven't joined.** New toggle under *Hide Built-in Modules*. Only hides posts surfaced from public groups you're not a member of; groups you've already joined are left alone. - **LinkedIn — hide Promoted posts.** New toggle to remove paid/promoted posts from your LinkedIn feed, matching the "Promoted" label under the poster's name. **Changed** - Removed the toolbar post-count badge. The running number mixed hidden and highlighted posts into one figure and only ever climbed as you scrolled, so it wasn't telling you anything useful.
