Feather - Instant Markdown for AI Chats Feather is a browser extension that turns documents into clean, token-efficient Markdown for use with AI chat applications. It also lets you save AI conversations as Markdown files. Convert Documents for AI Feather processes your files locally in your browser and converts them into formats that are easier for AI models to read. It supports common documents, spreadsheets, presentations, PDFs, text files, and web content. For PDFs, Feather can extract text, detect tables, extract embedded images, and perform OCR on scanned pages. Images contained in documents can be preserved separately so important diagrams and figures are not lost. For spreadsheets, Feather can produce compact CSV output instead of large Markdown tables, helping reduce unnecessary token usage. Extract AI Conversations Save conversations from supported AI chat websites as clean Markdown files. This makes it easier to archive conversations, reuse prompts and code, or move content between AI tools. Runs Locally Document processing happens directly in your browser. Your files do not need to be uploaded to a Feather server. Feather does not require an API key for document conversion or chat extraction. An optional BYOK feature can use a Gemini API key for additional processing, such as summarizing long conversations or generating descriptions for images and diagrams. Drag and Drop Converted Markdown files and image bundles can be dragged directly from the Feather panel into a compatible chat interface. Privacy Your document contents, filenames, and extracted conversations are not transmitted to Feather's servers for processing. Feather may collect limited anonymous telemetry, such as installation statistics and aggregate usage information, to help improve the extension. Feather is designed to make preparing documents and conversations for AI easier, faster, and more token-efficient.
