Overview

Simple way to take attendance on Google Meet™

Attendance for Google Meet™ — take attendance in one click Attendance for Google Meet™ is the simplest way for teachers, trainers, and meeting hosts to capture who showed up to a Google Meet™ call — and turn it into a clean, dated record you can keep, share, or drop straight into your gradebook. This release is a ground-up overhaul: we rebuilt how the extension reads the meeting, redesigned the entire interface, and added the features you asked for most. WHAT'S NEW A brand-new interface. The old plain text box is gone. In its place is a calm, modern roster that shows you — at a glance — who is present, who arrived late, who left early, and who never joined. Every person gets a colored avatar, a join time, and a clear status label. Search to find someone instantly, and switch between Present, Absent, and All with a single tap. Live attendance, tracked automatically. Join a Meet and tracking begins on its own — there is nothing to remember. A compact panel docks quietly in the corner of your call so you can watch the count grow without ever leaving the meeting. Late and left, not just present. With automatic capture running, the extension records join and leave times and total minutes for each participant, and can flag anyone who arrives after your chosen "late" threshold. Class rosters. Save your class lists once, then compare any meeting against a roster to instantly see who is present, who is absent, and who joined unexpectedly. Export anywhere. Download attendance as a TXT or CSV file, copy the list to your clipboard, or send it straight to Google Sheets. You can even auto-export the moment a meeting ends. Attendance history. Every session is saved locally so you can reopen, review, and re-export past meetings whenever you need them — complete with a simple summary of your total meetings, average attendance, and unique attendees. BUGS FIXED This version repairs the problems that stopped the old extension from working on today's Google Meet: - Reliable detection. Google frequently changes how Meet is built, which broke attendance capture. We rewrote detection from scratch with a layered, resilient approach that no longer depends on fragile, language-specific labels — so it keeps working across Meet's updates and in every language. - Accurate capture. Attendance is now read the moment the participant list is ready, instead of relying on brittle timing tricks that produced empty or partial lists. If nothing can be captured, you are told honestly instead of seeing a false "success" message. - Clean names. Participant names are now correctly separated from status text like "(You)" or "Meeting host," duplicates are removed, and the list stays tidy. - Your settings stick. Disabling the in-meeting panel used to be forgotten after every update. Your preferences now persist correctly across updates. - Works after rejoining. The in-meeting panel now reappears when you leave and rejoin a call in the same tab, instead of vanishing until you reload the page. - Safer and tidier. We closed a security gap where a crafted display name could inject content into the popup, stopped the panel from interfering with other Meet buttons, fixed export filenames that broke on Windows, and removed a large amount of dead, leftover code. PRIVACY Your data stays yours. Attendance is stored locally on your device by default. Nothing is uploaded to us, and there is no account to create. Google Sheets export is entirely optional and only runs when you choose it and sign in. WHO IT'S FOR - Teachers who need a fast, accurate roll call for online classes - Trainers and workshop hosts tracking participation - Managers and HR keeping simple records of who attended HOW TO USE IT 1. Install the extension and join any Google Meet. 2. Attendance begins tracking automatically, and a small panel appears in the corner of the call. 3. Click the toolbar icon any time to see the full live roster. 4. Export as TXT, CSV, or Google Sheets — or let it export automatically when the call ends. 5. Open History later to revisit or re-export any past session. Set up class rosters and your preferred capture options from the Settings screen to make roll call even faster. Attendance for Google Meet™ is a lightweight, privacy-friendly tool that turns a tedious manual task into a single click. Whether you are teaching a class of thirty, running a company all-hands, or hosting a weekly standup, you will always have an accurate record of who was there.
