Understand English words on web pages with a learner's dictionary and practise them in 1-minute sessions.

Sekirov English Dictionary lets you search words right on the page you are reading. Definitions are in English, with examples: it is a learner's dictionary, not a translator. Install it in seconds: the extension is about 3 MB. The dictionary is an optional download (about 120 MB, in Settings), and with it cards open instantly, even without internet. Your word list syncs with the phone app if you sign in. SEARCH WITHOUT LEAVING THE PAGE • Double-click a word: its entry opens next to it • Select a phrase, then click the small icon that appears • See the phrase a word belongs to: double-click "up" in "look it up" and get "look up" above "up" • Right-click a selection, or press Alt+Shift+D, to open the entry in the side panel THE WHOLE ENTRY • 200,000+ words and phrases • 250,000+ example sentences • Every meaning of a word, from the main ones to the rare, with examples • Idioms, phrasal verbs and set phrases • Slang and informal English, with labels: (informal), (slang), (offensive), (UK) • British and North American transcriptions, where the source has them • Select "knew", get "know". Select "children", get "child" • Listen to a word, with an English voice installed on your computer THE SIDE PANEL • Search with suggestions as you type, and the right word when you misspell it • Follow links from one entry to another, and go back • My words: the words you search for and read, the latest first PRACTISE WHERE YOU READ • 1-minute practice on the sites you read, out of your way • Now and then, a page you open has it in place below the first screen, so nothing on the page jumps, and it makes no sound • Five words, then back to your page • Close it, pause it for today or turn it off for a site in one click • With sign-in, your answers count in practice on your phone, and the phone's in Chrome ONE WORD LIST ON YOUR PHONE AND IN CHROME • Sign in with Google to keep My words the same in Chrome and in the Sekirov app for Android • A word you search for in Chrome waits for you in training on your phone • Signing in is optional: without it, everything works and your words stay in Chrome YOUR CHOICE • Turn the extension off on any site in Settings • Turn off double-click or the icon if you only want one of them • Turn practice on pages off in Settings • Light and dark, following your system PRIVATE • Until you download the dictionary, the word you select and the sentence around it are sent to our server so it can find the card; the server keeps no record of them • Until you download the dictionary, practice questions are made on our server from the words you practise; it keeps no record of them • With the dictionary downloaded, cards open instantly, even offline: the card is found on your computer • The internet is also used to sync your word list, only if you sign in • No ads. No tracking • Without sign-in, your words stay in Chrome on this computer, and removing the extension deletes them • Updates come through the Chrome Web Store WHERE THE ICON CAN'T APPEAR On Chrome's own pages and the Chrome Web Store the icon does not show, and on Google Docs it can't see your selection. Word counts from Google Books Ngram (https://storage.googleapis.com/books/ngrams/books/datasetsv3.html), shared under CC BY 3.0, were used to choose which words to check for prepositions, to suggest prepositions and to order them.
