)Overview
Detect and save videos or audio playing on web pages. No ads or tracking, and no data is sent to developer-operated servers.
Clip Capture is a local tool that detects videos and audio playing on a web page and saves selected content to your device. No Clip Capture account is required. The extension has no ads or usage tracking, and it does not send browsing, video or audio information to servers operated by the developer. It supports videos delivered in segments (HLS and DASH/fMP4), directly delivered files (MP4, M4A, WebM, MP3 and AAC), and compatible playback that uses MediaSource. For compatible content, audio-only output can be saved as M4A without re-encoding. Tab Recording creates a new WebM video by recording and re-encoding the tab’s displayed content and audio. 🔍 Main features ・Detect and save videos or audio playing on a web page ・Capture mode for compatible playback that cannot be saved directly ・Tab Recording for recording a selected tab’s displayed content and audio ・Save video and audio, or audio only, in supported Detected Media and Capture tasks ・Choose which audio track to save when supported content has multiple tracks ・Pause, resume and stop processing or recording ・Save or delete generated output ・Temporarily store large outputs and recover completed files awaiting saving ・Light and dark themes ・Japanese and English interface 👀 How to use The Clip Capture icon indicates the page’s video or audio detection status. ・Red icon: A possible video or audio saving candidate has been recognized. ・Blue icon: No video or audio saving candidate has been detected yet. You can select Tab Recording even when the detected list has no suitable item. 1. Play the video or audio that you want to save on the web page. If there is an advertisement, wait until the desired content begins. 2. While the desired content is playing, click the Clip Capture icon in the Chrome toolbar. 3. In Detected Media mode, select the desired video or audio from the list. You can also select Capture mode or explicitly choose Tab Recording. 4. In Capture mode, choose a playback speed if needed and follow the instructions to reload the source tab and start playback again. For Tab Recording, check the displayed target tab. 5. In Detected Media or Capture mode, select Start or Audio only. For Tab Recording, select Start tab recording, return to the source tab and continue playback. You can pause, resume or stop the task. Stop Tab Recording when you have recorded the content you need. 6. After processing finishes, the generated file is saved to your device’s Downloads folder. If the extension shows that a file is awaiting saving, follow the on-screen instructions. 🔑 Privacy and network communication To detect and save videos or audio, Clip Capture processes information about open tabs, video and audio delivery, playback position, and the data needed for saving. When you start Tab Recording, the extension also processes the selected tab’s displayed content and audio. Visible text, subtitles, player controls and other content within that tab may be included in the recording. Tab Recording does not capture your microphone, entire desktop or other application windows. Because this information may fall under “Web history,” “User activity” and “Website content” in the Chrome Web Store, it is disclosed in the Privacy section. This information is used only to detect videos or audio and to record and save content selected by the user. It is not sent to developer-operated servers or analytics services and is not used for sale, third-party sharing, advertising, behavioral tracking or profiling. To retrieve selected videos or audio, the extension communicates with the original website and its delivery servers. During tab playback, the website may also communicate with its own servers as usual. These communications are separate from sending information to a developer-operated data-collection server. Settings, task information, recovery data and temporary video or audio data may be stored locally inside the browser as needed. The extension does not copy login cookies or authorization headers into its own video or audio retrieval requests. Tab Recording records content that you have opened and are playing in Chrome. ⚠️ Safety and limitations ・DRM-protected content cannot be saved, and the extension does not remove, decrypt or bypass DRM ・Compatibility depends on the website, delivery method, codecs, server response and Chrome environment ・Saving is not guaranteed for every website, video or audio item ・Tab Recording records one tab at a time and saves video with tab audio as WebM; audio-only output is not available in this mode ・Tab Recording includes visible subtitles and controls, takes approximately as long as playback, and may change video and audio quality through re-encoding ・Pausing Tab Recording does not pause playback in the source tab ・Navigating the source tab to another page, closing it or closing the recording page ends Tab Recording ・Recovery applies to recoverable saved data; incomplete tab recordings are not automatically restored as completed videos ・Use the extension only for content that you have the right or permission to save ・YouTube is not supported
