Barcode Reader
Overview
Scan barcode images on a page, in a file or from the camera with this barcode reader and barcode scanner, then copy the number.
📦 barcode reader: copy the number that is already on your screen A barcode on a product card, a delivery label, a photo in chat, or a PDF packing slip cannot be highlighted with the mouse. This barcode reader turns those stripes into digits you can paste into a search, a form, or a sheet. It starts when you click the toolbar icon. Scan tab reads the visible tab. If the code is small, Page images reads the original picture on the page. Camera reads a live code after you allow it. Copy puts the number on the clipboard. 🔍 This barcode reader reads the page image, not only a screenshot A screenshot of a product card shrinks a barcode until the stripes disappear. This barcode reader can use the original image file that the page already loaded. Scan tab uses a screenshot of the visible tab. Page images uses the original picture the page already loaded. When a code is too small, the extension does not stay silent. It offers Page images or Select area. After a snip miss it tells you to zoom the page to 150% and scan again. When the first read is empty, the next step is named: - Press Page images to use the original picture - Or zoom to 150% and press Scan again - Select area if the rest of the tab is crowded 📋 One list, then Export CSV Every successful read lands in one list, from any of these sources: 1. Scan tab - the visible browser tab 2. Page images - original pictures on the page 3. Select area - a rectangle you draw, also Alt+Shift+B 4. File - a photo or PDF you drop, paste, or choose 5. Camera - the live camera after you allow it They stack as a column of numbers. From two rows onward, Export CSV saves barcodes.csv. Clear empties the list on this device. This barcode scanner for Chrome collects numbers, not screenshots. 🚫 Copy is the only action The decoded value never opens a tab and never follows a link. A barcode that holds a URL stays text until you paste it yourself. Copy is the control. There is no Open. 🔢 UPC-A stays 12 digits A UPC-A code is 12 digits. The engine often returns 13 digits with a leading zero. Copy uses the 12-digit number. The 13-digit EAN-13 form is labelled next to it, so you can see both and paste the one you need. GS1-128 codes can show GTIN, Batch, Expiry, and Serial. A failed check digit is shown; a good one is not announced. A failed check is not repaired in silence. What the row shows: ➤ Copy uses the 12-digit UPC-A ▸ the labelled EAN-13 twin sits next to it • A failed check digit is shown; a good one is not announced - GS1-128 splits into GTIN, Batch, Expiry, Serial 📌 How to use this barcode reader 1️⃣ Open the page that shows the barcode and click the toolbar icon. 2️⃣ If the number appears, press Copy. 3️⃣ If the code is small, press Page images, or zoom to 150% and press Scan again. 4️⃣ To keep a column, keep scanning. Press Export CSV when you want the file. ➤ You can also drop a photo or a PDF onto File. ▸ Select area reads the rectangle you draw when the rest of the tab is crowded. 📏 What this barcode reader reads Striped codes on shop, parcel and warehouse labels, and square codes on documents, tickets and posters. Striped codes remain the main job. ⚠️ Honest limits A very small barcode may need Page images or 150% zoom. A cross-origin image without CORS cannot be read as a page image; that case falls back to the visible screenshot of the area. A thin Code 128 on a product card is the case Page images is for. The extension does not look up products in a database. It does not create barcodes. It does not open the decoded value. It also does none of this: - It never opens a decoded link by itself - There is no account - There is no subscription - Nothing leaves the device 🔒 What it does not collect This barcode reader runs on your computer: scan, snip, decode, Camera, and Copy. Nothing is sent to a server. There is no account. The list stays on this device, and Clear removes it. ❓ Short answers 📌 Can it read a tiny code on a product card? 💡 Often yes, through Page images. 📌 Does a decoded link open by itself? 💡 No. Copy is the only action. 📌 Where do the numbers go? 💡 Into one list on this device. Export CSV writes the file. Clear deletes the list. 📌 Is this a lookup tool? 💡 No. It reads the number in front of you. It does not search a product catalogue. The barcode reader on the toolbar reads the code you can already see, copies the number, and leaves the rest to you.
