Overview
Open data resources in the biomedical domain
Vasts amounts of biomedical data are stored in open databases and knowledge-bases. Data in these resources are intended to be findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR). However, integrating relevant parts within a specific project can be a challenge. FAIR-biomed works inside the browser to bring open data directly to specific research situations. On any page in the browser, highlight some text. Press Ctr+Shift+Z or open a context menu (right-click) and select FAIR-biomed. A new box should appear prompting you to choose a data source to query. Starting from a gene name, for example, you can fetch a general summary from NCBI Gene, related publications from PubMed or Europe PMC, mouse phenotypes from the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium, or pathways from Reactome. The extension provides links to 20+ resources.
