WriteCrisp is an AI writing layer for every text box on the web — powered by YOUR own API key. No account, no subscription, no middleman servers. Your key talks directly to the AI provider you choose. ✦ WHAT IT DOES • Grammar — fix spelling, grammar, punctuation, and clarity in any language, in place. • Enhance Prompt — turn a rough prompt into a well-structured one (role, constraints, output format) before you send it to an AI. • Caveman — compress verbose text to the essentials, with low/medium/high intensity. • Custom — type any free-form instruction ("make this more formal", "translate to German", ...) and apply it to your text. • Your own modes — save any instruction as a reusable mode with its own name and one-key shortcut ("Translate to German", "Reply politely", "Make it a tweet"). Create them in Settings → Modes; they appear in the picker next to the built-ins. • Explain — select any text on any page, press a shortcut, and get a plain-language explanation in the language you choose. Don't need a built-in mode? Switch it off in Settings → Modes and it disappears from the picker. ✦ HOW IT WORKS 1. Pause while typing (or press your keyboard shortcut) — a small pill appears. 2. Pick a mode — a built-in or one of your own (or press its quick-key). The result streams in live. 3. Review the word-by-word diff — Clean, Side-by-side, or Inline view. 4. Click Accept. Nothing is ever inserted into the page without your explicit approval. ✦ BRING YOUR OWN KEY (BYOK) WriteCrisp works with the AI provider YOU configure: • Any service with an OpenAI-compatible API • Anthropic Claude, Azure AI Foundry, or AWS Bedrock • A model running on your own computer, through a localhost endpoint You control the model, the temperature, the token limits — and the bill. Set a spend limit on your provider account for extra peace of mind. ✦ PRIVACY BY ARCHITECTURE • We operate NO servers. There is no WriteCrisp backend, no telemetry, no analytics. • Your API key is stored only in your browser and is sent only to the provider you configured. • The text you ask to improve goes directly from your browser to your provider over HTTPS.
