Markdown PR Review

Review Markdown files in GitHub & GitHub Enterprise pull requests as rendered documents and comment on selected text.

Open a pull request, press Review Markdown, and a full-page overlay shows every .md file of the PR as a rendered page with GitHub's own styling. Changed paragraphs are highlighted, a Word diff shows exactly which words changed, and you comment by selecting text – the extension works out the source lines for you and posts a normal GitHub review comment. It is built around what makes reviewing prose in pull requests painful: GitHub's rich diff can't be commented on, a one-word edit marks a whole soft-wrapped paragraph as changed, re-wrapping a paragraph or re-padding a table drowns the real edits, moved sections show up as a big delete plus a big add, tables, images and math are unreadable as source, and there is no easy way to see only what changed since your last review. The Word diff keeps the document intact: a rewritten phrase reads as one deletion and one insertion instead of alternating words, a change of formatting alone – a word made bold, italic turned bold – shows the old and the new text, and sections, list items or code blocks added next to an edited paragraph keep their own place. Code, links (reference-style ones too), footnotes, emoji, formulas, line breaks and task-list checkboxes all survive, and a ticked checkbox shows its old and new state. New in 1.1.0: the clearer Word diff described above, and your GitHub token can no longer be read by the scripts the extension adds to GitHub pages – it is only sent to the GitHub instance it belongs to.
