It is built for ultrawide users, dance and tutorial learners, playlist viewers, and anyone who wants a simpler YouTube experience. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🆕 What's New in v2.1 ☁️ Optional Google Drive Settings Sync Connect a Google account and enable Settings Sync to keep extension preferences aligned across PCs and supported Chromium browsers using the same account, typically within 1–5 minutes. Sync is off by default. On first enable, choose the cloud settings, this device's settings, or a merge. You can also sync now, create manual backups, and restore from the five most recent backups. 📁 Subscription Channel Folders When enabled, Channel Folders replaces YouTube's native subscription area with a browse-only folder tree. Open the separate manager from its settings icon to create and rename folders up to two levels deep, drag-sort them, search and filter channels, and move multiple channels. The manager can expand to the full viewport; while maximized it shows YouTube's public channel-topic information as classification chips when available. Channel sync has its own switch. Actual YouTube unsubscription runs only after a separate count-and-impact confirmation. 🔐 Improved Connection Continuity The extension keeps only the connected account's email as a local login hint so silent renewal targets the same account when several Google accounts are signed in. Access tokens remain in browser session storage and are never sent to a developer server. Reconnection may still be required when the Google web session or permission expires. 📍 v1.9 Chapter Dots Navigation On videos with chapters, optional dots appear along the right side of the player. Hover to see a chapter title and start time, then click to jump there. Choose compact dots or larger numbered buttons. ✨ Video Summary — Experimental, Off by Default If you enable Video Summary, the extension automatically submits the fixed localized prompt “Summarize this video” once on each eligible video through YouTube's native Ask feature. The recipient is YouTube Ask, and the returned answer is shown from an icon beside the player. The extension does not generate the summary itself and does not send the request or answer to the developer or a developer-operated server. The request is processed by Google/YouTube within the current YouTube page, and a temporary copy of the answer remains only in the current tab's memory. If an Ask conversation already exists, the extension checks whether the fixed summary wording was previously used and, if so, shows the completed answer linked to that question again instead of sending a new request; it does not copy or store unrelated turns. The icon may not appear when YouTube Ask is unavailable for an account, region, or video. 🛠 Display Stability This release also prevents YouTube's cinematic-lighting glow from remaining in Video Focus Mode and keeps “Not interested” placeholders from becoming oversized in List View. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📐 Screen & Viewing • 5 Aspect Presets — Default 16:9, 21:9 Ultrawide, 32:9 Superwide, Fill Screen, and Zoom Crop. • Video Flip — Horizontal mirror mode for dance practice and tutorials, plus vertical flip. • 6 Video Filters — Brightness, contrast, saturation, invert, grayscale, and hue rotation with real-time controls. • Video Focus Mode — Show only the top navigation and current player on watch pages. 🎞 Playback & Control • Chapter Dots — Inspect chapter titles and times, then jump directly to a section. • Video Summary — On supported videos, automatically submit a fixed summary request to YouTube Ask and display its response beside the player (optional and off by default). • Mouse Wheel Control — Choose seek (5 seconds), speed (0.1x), or volume (5%), with an optional modifier key. • Speed Presets — One-click 0.75x–2.0x presets and wheel adjustment up to 4x. • Quality Lock — Prefer 4K, 2K, 1080p, or 720p when available, with safe fallback for unavailable qualities and ads. • Auto Theater Mode — Open videos in YouTube's wider theater layout automatically. • Playlist Control Bar — Play/Pause, Previous/Next, Repeat One, Repeat All, and Reverse Order. • Auto PiP — Keep the playing video visible in an adjustable docked player while scrolling. 🧭 Browse & Captions • Home & Recommendations List View — Compact cards, responsive columns, clearer section spacing, and watch-page recommendation styling. • Video List Filters — Organize Home, Search, and recommendations by views, duration, upload period, watch status, live status, channels, and title keywords. • Hover Preview Blocker — Stop thumbnails from auto-playing when you hover over them. • Caption Auto-Translate — Keep captions translated into one of 7 target languages. • Caption Optimization — Improve lower-caption alignment, transparency, and shadow styling. • Shorts Control — Hide Shorts from feeds or open Shorts links in the standard watch player while preserving the current position. ⌨️ Convenience • 8 Custom Shortcuts — Record key combinations for aspect ratios, flips, focus mode, and reset. • In-Player Quick Menu — Access frequently used aspect, flip, focus mode, Auto PiP, and filter actions inside the player. • OSD Notifications — See immediate on-video feedback for shortcut, wheel, and quick-menu actions. • Settings Sync — Optionally keep preferences aligned across supported browsers through the connected Google account's hidden app-only Drive area. • Multi-language UI — English, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔒 Data Handling, Permissions & Compatibility • No ads, analytics, tracking, or developer-operated server. • The current YouTube URL, page elements, player state, visible list metadata, and chapter markers are processed temporarily in the current tab only to provide selected features. The extension does not build a viewing history. • Preferences and any channel/title exclusion text you enter are stored in the current browser profile with `chrome.storage.local`. On the first run after an update from an earlier version, existing synchronized preferences are copied locally once; the developer receives neither copy. • Only when Video Summary is enabled, the fixed summary request and current-video context are processed by YouTube Ask. The extension discards its response copy when the tab navigates or reloads. • Initial Google account connection begins only after you press the connect button and requests Google Drive's hidden app-only area (`drive.appdata`). The YouTube management scope is requested later only if you choose to connect subscriptions in Channel Folders. The extension does not request separate email, profile, or general Drive-file access. Only the email returned by Drive is stored as a same-account renewal hint and is removed on disconnect. • Settings Sync is off by default. Only when you enable it are preference values, per-key modification times, and a random device ID stored as `settings.json` and up to five backups in the app-only Drive area. Disconnecting or turning sync off does not automatically delete cloud files. • Channel Folders is off by default and stores folder names/order plus channel IDs, titles, page/thumbnail URLs, and assignments locally. If Channel Sync is enabled, `channel-library.json` is exchanged through the app-only Drive area. Public channel topics shown in the maximized manager remain only in memory for about 12 hours and are not synchronized to Drive. Deleting a folder or moving a channel to Unassigned never unsubscribes it from YouTube. • Permissions are limited to `storage` for local data, `identity` for optional account connection, `alarms` for scheduled sync, `https://www.youtube.com/*` for YouTube features, and `https://www.googleapis.com/*` for app-only Drive data and user-requested subscription read/removal. All executable code is included in the installed package. • Requires Chrome 111 or later. YouTube frequently changes its page structure and feature availability, so some layout, chapter, or summary features may require an extension update.
