Extension Trust Scanner, Permission Risk
Overview
Scan your installed extensions and see which ones hold risky permissions. A clear risk report for your browser, 100% local.
Extension Trust Scanner shows you, in one click, what every extension installed in your browser is actually allowed to do. It reads your extension list, scores each one by the permissions it holds and how it was installed, and explains in plain English why. The whole scan runs in your browser. Nothing about your extensions is ever uploaded. 🚀 🚀 WHY THIS MATTERS Most people have no idea what their Chrome extensions can access. Many can read every site you visit, your cookies, or your browsing history, and you granted that the moment you installed them. Extension Trust Scanner turns that invisible permission list into a clear risk report so you can decide what to keep, disable, or look into. ⚡ EVERYTHING IN THE FREE PLAN ✓ Scan every installed extension and get a risk score for each ✓ A plain-language list of what each extension can do (read all sites, read cookies, see your history, and more) ✓ A high, medium and low summary for your whole browser ✓ Flags for extensions installed from outside the Chrome Web Store ✓ Disable or open any extension in one click ✓ Copy the full report to share or keep 🔓 WHAT PRO UNLOCKS ✦ A deeper per-extension breakdown of every flagged permission ✦ Change detection: see what was added or removed since your last scan ✦ Export and save your reports 🎯 WHO IT IS FOR Anyone who has installed a handful of extensions over the years and wants a quick, honest look at what they can access. It is for awareness and informed decisions, not fear. 🛠️ HOW IT WORKS 1. Click Scan. 2. Extension Trust Scanner reads your installed extension list in your browser. 3. Each extension gets a risk score and a plain-language explanation of its permissions. 4. Review the high-risk ones first, then disable or keep them as you choose. 💡 WHAT THE SCORE LOOKS AT → Powerful permissions like access to all websites, cookies, browsing history, or the debugger → How broadly an extension can reach across the sites you visit → Whether it was installed from the Chrome Web Store or sideloaded from elsewhere → Where it receives its updates from → How many permissions it requests in total 🔒 HONEST BY DESIGN This is important. Extension Trust Scanner scores the permissions and install source your extensions declared. A high score means an extension is capable of sensitive actions, not that it has done anything wrong. A low score does not certify an extension as safe. Chrome does not let one extension read another extension's code, so no tool can detect actual behavior from the outside. Treat this as a starting point for your own review. 🔒 PRIVACY YOU CAN VERIFY The scan runs entirely in your browser. Your extension list and scores never leave your device. The extension makes a few requests to our own server at peakproductivity.online: an anonymous license check, and anonymous, aggregate usage events (for example "installed" or "ran a scan") labeled only with a random device id and the version number. These carry no personal data and never include your extension list or its details. If you choose to send feedback through the rating prompt, that message is sent too. We use no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and we never sell or share your data. 🛡️ SECURITY Built on Manifest V3 with no remote code. It requests management (to read your extension list), storage, and downloads (to export a report). Nothing more. ❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Does this detect malware or remove viruses? A: No, and it does not claim to. It is a permission and risk awareness tool. It shows you what your extensions can access so you can make informed decisions. It is not an antivirus. Q: Does my extension list get uploaded? A: No. The scan and scoring happen entirely in your browser. Your extension list and its details are never sent anywhere. The extension does send anonymous usage events (event name, random device id, version) and, if you submit it, your feedback text, but never your extension list. Q: A trusted extension got a high score. Is it dangerous? A: Not necessarily. A password manager legitimately needs access to many sites. A high score means powerful permissions, which is worth understanding, not automatically a problem. Q: Can it tell me if an extension is secretly malicious? A: No tool can do that from outside, because Chrome does not expose other extensions' code. This scores what an extension is allowed to do, which is the honest, useful signal you can act on. Q: What does Pro add? A: A deeper per-extension breakdown, change detection between scans, and exportable reports. 🚀 GET STARTED Add Extension Trust Scanner and run your first scan. In ten seconds you will know exactly what your extensions can access, and you can decide what to do about it.
