Exact Upload Dates for YouTube
Overview
Replaces YouTube's relative video ages with exact upload dates across home, search, subscriptions, and recommendations.
Stop guessing what “6 years ago” means. Exact Upload Dates for YouTube replaces relative video ages with real calendar dates directly inside YouTube. A label such as “6 years ago” becomes “Apr 22, 2020” without opening the video. The extension works across common YouTube browsing surfaces, including: - Home and recommendation feeds - Search results - Subscriptions - Channel and playlist pages - Shorts cards - Recommended videos beside the watch page A one-time YouTube Data API v3 key is required. The extension uses the official API because YouTube does not reliably expose exact upload dates in browsing-page markup. Setup instructions are included in the extension. Privacy and performance: - No analytics or advertising - No developer-operated server - No sale or sharing of browsing data - The API key stays in Chrome's local extension storage - Visible video IDs and the API key are sent directly to Google's YouTube Data API - Requests are batched and upload dates are cached locally to conserve API quota Date display can be set to a short localized format, a long localized format, or ISO format. The extension can also be paused from its toolbar popup. Not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.
