Overview

EU law, augmented: defined terms, references, CJEU judgments, timelines and alerts on EUR-Lex and at eureka.legal, in 24 languages.

EU law, augmented. Eureka turns EU law into linked text you can read without losing your place: on EUR-Lex in Chrome, and on the web at eureka.legal. Open any regulation, directive or decision, or a judgment of the Court of Justice or the General Court, in the HTML view on eur-lex.europa.eu. Eureka links the text and adds a panel beside it. WHAT YOU GET • Defined terms. Every term the act defines is a link. Click it and the definition opens beside the text. Terms inside definitions are links too, as deep as you like. • References. "Article 6(1)", "Directive 95/46/EC", "TFEU": a click shows the article or act you are referred to, without leaving the page. • Everything about an article in one click. A small ring next to each article heading shows at a glance what Eureka knows about it: case law, acts adopted under it, corrections, dates and changes. Click it for the details, a translation or a link to share. • Translations side by side. Show any article next to one or two other language versions, paragraph by paragraph, with the links in every language. Or switch the whole act to another language at the same place. Where the language versions differ, a translation notice says how. • Case law per article. How many judgments interpret or cite each article, which ones, and the paragraphs that cite it. • Acts adopted under an article. The implementing and delegated acts adopted on the basis of each article, such as the adequacy decisions under Article 45 GDPR. • Judgments and opinions, linked. On a judgment or an Advocate General's opinion, its citations, the Court's own paragraphs and the footnotes are links, quoted provisions open in the act they come from, and the Details card shows the court, date, Advocate General and the operative part. Read it in several languages side by side, and share the judgment or one paragraph. • Status and history. Whether the act is in force, its consolidated versions, amendments, corrigenda and events. • Timeline. Dates of application, deadlines and review clauses, with marks at the articles concerned. • What changed. For amended acts, the old and the new wording side by side. • Follow acts, articles and cases. News about new judgments, amendments and corrigenda, and for a pending case the Advocate General's opinion and the judgment, in the panel and by e-mail if you like. • Share an article. A link to eureka.legal that opens the article with its definitions and references on any phone or computer, no extension needed. • Legal Latin. Phrases such as "inter alia" and "mutatis mutandis" explained. • All 24 official EU languages, inflected forms included. ALSO ON THE WEB Read acts and judgments at eureka.legal/lex with the same links, on your phone too. Search by short name, title or number: "GDPR 17" opens Article 17 of the GDPR, "C-311/18" or "Schrems II" opens the judgment. AI IS ALWAYS MARKED Some content is written by AI: translation notices, timeline headlines, summaries of changes and of what a judgment says about an article. Every such item carries an "AI" label. Definitions and the texts of acts and judgments are never AI-generated. FREE DURING THE LAUNCH PERIOD An account opens the features: an e-mail address, no password, no card. Everything is free during the launch period. When paid plans start, existing accounts get at least three months to choose a plan. Eureka is not affiliated with the European Union, the Publications Office of the European Union or the Court of Justice of the European Union. Only the official EUR-Lex text is authentic.
