Overview

Track your goals and earn tokens for aligned promotions

Eudaimonia is an ad blocker bundled with a goal tracker and an alternative ad network. Right-click any ad that doesn't deserve your attention and it collapses to a small badge. What appears in its place is a link someone put there because they thought it could help with a goal you actually want to pursue. Traditional advertising optimises for the likeliest immediate purchase, but it could be optimizing for the unregretted purchase. Those are different targets, and the gap between them is an opportunity to restore the optimism of the old internet. Major advertisers could already make less extreme but more sustainable profits by promoting mostly purchases a customer feels good about, which would build trust with the platform over time. They don't do it because currently, there is no alternative. The missing piece does seem to be a way for the customer to introduce an alternative unilaterally: That's what an ad blocker with somewhere better to point aims to achieve. How it works: 1. Write down your long-term goals and the habits you're building toward them. You revise the wording regularly, which leads to a clearer account of what you actually want. 2. Right-click ads that conflict with those goals. They collapse to a badge. 3. In their place you get community-curated opportunities from people who declared they could help with goals like yours. Currently that's based on a simple keyword match, but I hope future versions will include an AI on the backend to really turbocharge the serendipity effect. Regular check-ins on your habits earn tokens. Tokens are what you spend to surface an opportunity to someone else. If you're building something you believe in and are using the self-development side of the system, you can promote it here for free. You can also spend them sending free traffic to someone else's project. Tokens can be bought at $0.25, which is close to the median cost-per-click across ad markets, and that's the whole pricing model. This favours small builders and prevents 'long tail' strategies. That's deliberate: the people most likely to have something that genuinely helps a stranger's stated goal are rarely those who can bid the most. If you're selling something you think will serve someone's self-actualisation or would like to help spread the word about the project, I'd love to hear from you — eucyclos on Protonmail or Instagram.
