Preview repository activity, issues, contributors, stars, and maintenance signals from any GitHub link.

See whether a GitHub project is still maintained, and whether its stars look bought, before you open the link. RepoAura is a free, open-source extension. It puts a small summary beside GitHub links in search results, forums, blog posts and READMEs, on the sites you allow. Click the info button beside a summary to open a details card. Is this project still maintained? → A colored mark shows whether the project is active, quiet or dormant. → The summary shows how long ago someone last changed the code, e.g. "5d" for five days ago. Is it popular, or are the stars bought? → Every summary shows the star count. → RepoAura warns you in red when a project has at least 1,000 stars and 100 or more stars per commit. → Projects that people use keep changing, so many stars with few commits can mean hype or bought stars. → The same warning appears next to the star count on the project's own GitHub page. → A project that added its code in one big commit can also get the warning, so treat the warning as a reason to look closer. Does anyone answer issues? → The details card shows how many issues are open and closed, when the newest open issue was opened, and when the last issue was closed. → The card also shows the number of contributors, the license, forks and watchers. Which pages can RepoAura read? → You choose every site, only the sites you pick, or none. → You can turn it off for any site with one click. → On GitHub, it only adds summaries to links inside README text. Do I need an account? → No. RepoAura asks GitHub's public API and keeps each answer in your browser for a day. → You can add a GitHub token to raise GitHub's hourly request limit. The token stays in your browser and goes only to api.github.com. The summaries adapt to light and dark pages. The source code is at https://github.com/testy-cool/repoaura under the MIT license.
