LLT Caption Tap

Hands the caption line of a YouTube page to the Live Local Translator desktop app. Nothing leaves your device.

LLT Caption Tap hands the caption line that a YouTube page is already showing to the Live Local Translator desktop app on the same computer, so the app can translate it and display the translation in its own window or overlay. It exists because the app's fallback — reading the captions off the screen — is slower and less accurate than reading the text the page has already drawn. WHAT IT DOES • Reads only the caption line currently visible in the YouTube player. • Passes that one string, plus the page address, to the desktop app through the browser's native messaging channel. • The app sends nothing back. The extension stores nothing. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • No network requests of any kind. There is no server. • No account, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, no cookies. • No access to any site other than youtube.com. • No reading of comments, titles, watch history or form fields. REQUIREMENTS • The Live Local Translator desktop app must be installed on the same computer. This extension is a helper for that app and does nothing on its own — without the app it stays idle. • A YouTube page with captions turned on. PRIVACY The caption text travels from the page to the app on your own machine and nowhere else. llt-tap-host.exe is in local.
