Entry: Sidebar Notes & Writing

Write notes beside any webpage. Save quotes, develop drafts, and continue in Entry.

Keep a draft open beside what you are reading. Entry's writing sidebar gives you a place to capture a thought, collect a quote with its source, and keep writing as you move between tabs. Start with free local notes. No account is needed to write, save notes on this device, or export them as Markdown. When you want to continue in Entry, sign in and choose which notes to sync with Entry. Open the same draft in Entry's writing studio to review and publish on your homepage. Your notes stay private until you choose to publish. Write and organise - Create notes with headings, lists, links, quotes, code and basic formatting. - Return to recent notes and search your writing. - Keep your current note open while changing tabs. - Write offline: local notes save on this device, with save status and recovery. Keep the source - Right-click selected text and choose Add selection to Entry to save it as a quote with a link to its page. Right-click the page (with nothing selected) and choose Add page to Entry to add just the page link. - Review the source link before it is added, and remove its query string if you want. - Captures are limited to 4,000 characters at a time. Pages that start with http:// are added as plain text, not a link. Chrome's own pages, the Chrome Web Store, PDFs and text inside embedded frames can't be captured. Continue with Entry - Sync selected notes with Entry, as private drafts. - Continue in Entry opens the same draft in your writing studio. - Use Entry assist on selected writing in a synced note: clarify it, shorten it, check its grammar, or ask a short question about it. Each suggestion appears beside the original, and nothing changes until you choose Keep. Local writing is free. Sync needs an Entry account and follows its current plan limits. Entry assist counts against your plan's monthly allowance, needs an internet connection, and asks your permission before anything is sent to Entry's AI provider. Works in Chrome 116 or newer on desktop. Tested on Chrome 116 and the current stable release. The extension reads a page only when you ask it to capture one. It has no access to your browsing history or other tabs. It does not run in Incognito windows. Local notes stay in this browser profile until you sync them with Entry or export them. Removing the extension or clearing its data removes notes that are not in Entry, so export anything you can't lose. Usage counts are optional and off by default.
