Semester OS
Overview
Canvas, normalized: every course as Rules / Materials / Drumbeat / Projects / Admin, hung off your class sessions.
Semester OS reorganizes American University's Canvas so every course reads the same way. Each course is sorted into five parts — Rules, Materials, Drumbeat (the recurring work), Projects, and Admin — and everything is hung off the class sessions it belongs to: "before Thursday's WRT-100: read chapter 3, post a response." • This Week — one timeline of your classes, with what's due before each one. • Courses — every course in the same five-part layout, whatever the professor's Canvas looks like. • Standing — your current grade per course and what you need on the remaining work. • Changes — what moved: due dates changed, points changed, newly published, new and removed items. • Ask — a heads-up bar over Canvas (Alt+A) for questions about your semester, answered by your own local assistant if you run one; otherwise it searches your coursework. It replaces nothing: submitting stays in Canvas, and every item links back to it. Your Canvas data stays in your browser. No accounts, no servers, no analytics. Works with american.instructure.com only.
