Overview
Customize YouTube native captions for English learning.
EnglishCC helps English learners turn YouTube captions into a cleaner reading and vocabulary review workflow. With EnglishCC, you can: - Display YouTube English captions in a clearer custom subtitle layer. - Adjust caption font, size, color, background, shadow, and highlighting style. - Hover over caption words to see basic dictionary meanings. - Save unfamiliar words to a local vocabulary book. - Review saved words with their meanings, original subtitle sentence, and source video. - Play saved word pronunciation from a remote dictionary audio service, with browser speech synthesis as a fallback. - Sort saved words by save time or alphabetically. - Group saved words by date or source video. - Jump back to the source video when reviewing a saved word. EnglishCC is designed for learners who watch talks, courses, interviews, tutorials, and other English videos on YouTube. The first version focuses on a lightweight local workflow: captions, lookup, saved vocabulary, and review. Privacy-friendly by default: - Vocabulary, lookup history, caption settings, and dictionary settings are stored in your browser. - The built-in basic dictionary works locally. - AI explanation providers are optional and only used after the user configures them. - EnglishCC does not require an account. - EnglishCC does not sell user data.
