Empty Screenings NZ
Overview
Empty Screenings NZ shows how full each screening is on various NZ cinema chains so you can spot the best remaining seats faster.
How it works As you browse session times on any supported site, the extension checks seat availability in real time and overlays a small badge on each session showing how full it is. Green means plenty of room, orange is few reservations, and red is a few more reservations. No clicking through to the booking page just to find out. Supported sites - hoyts.co.nz - eventcinemas.co.nz - lighthousecinema.co.nz Customisable to your preferences The thresholds that define each occupancy band are fully adjustable. If you want "low" to mean under 10% full rather than the default 5%, or "medium" to stretch all the way to 40%, you can set that yourself. The extension remembers your choices and applies them automatically every time you browse. Accessibility Not everyone sees colour the same way. Empty Screenings NZ includes built-in colour presets for deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia, so the badges stay readable regardless of colour vision. You can also go fully custom. Pick any colours you like for each occupancy band, and choose whether badge text appears in black, white, or automatic high-contrast. If you prefer dark mode over light mode, or vice-versa, there's a simple button to quickly between the two. Private by design No account required, no data collected, no tracking. The extension only runs on the cinema sites listed above and stores your colour preferences locally on your device.
