better-browser-mcp relay
Overview
Lets a local better-browser-mcp server control agent tabs in this browser (local WebSocket only, no cloud).
Give any AI agent your own Chrome: Codex, Claude Code, or any other MCP client. It works with your sign-ins, next to you, without taking over your screen. In our benchmark on 16 hard pages it used 72% fewer tokens than Claude in Chrome, ran 3.5× faster, and passed all 32 runs (Claude in Chrome: 28). This extension is the bridge for better-browser-mcp, an open-source MCP server that runs on your computer. The server gives your AI agent compact text snapshots of the page and batched actions, so it finishes tasks in fewer calls and with far fewer tokens than screenshot-based browser tools. What it does: • Opens and controls only the agent's own tabs, in a separate "Agent" tab group. • Never takes your active tab or moves focus away from what you are doing. • Up to 30 agent sessions can share one Chrome. Each session sees only its own tabs. • Closes the agent's tabs when the session ends, except the tabs that you used. Privacy and safety: • Connects only to a server on 127.0.0.1 that you pair with a token. No cloud relay, no analytics, no remote code. • Optional guard mode blocks Buy, Place order, checkout and Post actions. You need the better-browser-mcp server to use this extension.
