Someone calls, or a pop-up says your computer is infected, or an ad says "update your drivers" - and a minute later a program is on your computer that lets a stranger control it. Guardian is the pause button. WHAT IT DOES - Every program you download is paused and looked at before it runs - the file, where it came from, the page you were on - and you are told in plain words: fine, hold on, or stop. - Every new extension is switched off first and asked about second. If it looks right, it goes back on. If not, it stays off until you say so. - Our own files are recognised as ours. Everything else - including ours if it is not on our published list - is judged like a stranger's. - You always have the final say. Guardian never deletes a file and never runs anything on your computer. It can only pause, ask, and tell you. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO - No account needed. No ads. No analytics companies. Nothing is sold or shared. - It does not read web pages, your history, passwords, cookies, or anything you type. It has no content script. - It sends one small review request per download or extension (file name, address, page address, size, fingerprint - never the file) to emergentri.com, our own server, and nothing else.
