MailBolt™ Email Tracker helps you track email opens and link clicks directly inside Gmail, while also detecting common tracking pixels in incoming emails. It adds clear delivery/read indicators in your inbox, a lightweight activity view, and real-time in-page alerts—so you always know what happens after you hit Send. What It Does: • Tracks outgoing emails by appending a unique 1×1 tracking pixel to messages you send from Gmail. • Tracks link clicks by converting links in your email into MailBolt tracking links (if enabled on your MailBolt account/plan). • Shows Gmail inbox indicators (e.g., “sent” vs “opened”) next to your emails. • Displays tracking activity and stats via the extension popup (connected to your MailBolt account). • Detects tracking pixels in incoming emails and marks them with a warning indicator. • Helps prevent “self-opens” by neutralizing your own tracking pixel when you view your sent messages in Gmail. How It Works: 1. Install the extension. 2. Open Gmail (web). 3. Connect to your MailBolt account (Google sign-in flow). 4. Send emails as usual—MailBolt adds a tracking ID and records events on your MailBolt dashboard. Privacy & Data Use (Important Disclosure): • This extension modifies outgoing emails you send from Gmail by inserting a tracking pixel and (optionally) rewriting links for click tracking. • The extension communicates with MailBolt services at https://app.mailbolt.io/ to authenticate your account and sync tracking status/events. • The extension saves minimal data locally (such as a session/extension token and cached tracking status) to keep the experience reliable. • Tracking events are recorded on MailBolt servers so you can view opens/clicks in your dashboard. Permissions Explained: • Storage: saves settings and authentication/token state. • Scripting / Content scripts: injects UI elements into Gmail and hooks into compose/send actions. • Declarative Net Request: helps prevent unwanted or false tracking loads (e.g., self-open protection). • Offscreen: plays notification sounds reliably in the background. • Host permissions: - mail.google.com (to run inside Gmail) - app.mailbolt.io (to connect to MailBolt services) Requirements: • Works on Gmail in a desktop browser (web version). • A MailBolt™ account is required for tracking and analytics features.
