Em-Dash Detector
Overview
Replaces em-dashes with commas on paste
Em-Dash Detector automatically cleans pasted text by replacing em-dashes (—) with commas as you paste. If you copy text from documents, emails, or the web and paste it into a form, editor, or message field, this extension intercepts the paste, swaps each em-dash for a comma and space, and inserts the cleaned text for you. No extra clicks, no copy-paste workflow to learn. Why install it? • Saves time when reformatting pasted content for plain-text fields • Works in text inputs, textareas, and contenteditable editors • Shows a small undo toast so you can restore the original em-dashes if you prefer them • If a site blocks automatic replacement, it offers a one-click fallback so you can paste the cleaned version on the next try How it works 1. You paste text that contains an em-dash. 2. The extension replaces — with ", " before the text lands in the field. 3. A brief notification confirms the change. Tap "Undo" to put the original text back on your clipboard and paste again within 10 seconds. Privacy All processing happens locally in your browser. Em-Dash Detector does not send your pasted text to any server, does not store it, and does not track browsing activity. No configuration required — install it and paste as usual.
