Course Debugger for Storyline
Overview
View and edit Storyline course variables, unlock navigation, jump to slides and save snapshots. Not affiliated with Articulate.
Course Debugger for Storyline is a side panel for testing and debugging Articulate Storyline courses while they run. Open your course in Review 360, a local preview or your LMS, click the toolbar icon, and see exactly what your course is doing. Built by an e-learning developer, for e-learning developers. WHAT YOU CAN DO • See every variable, live Every project variable is listed with its current value, refreshed every second. Changed values are highlighted, and a dot shows anything that differs from its default. • Edit variables on the fly Toggle true/false variables, type new numbers or text, or reset one or all variables to their defaults. Changes go through Storyline's own SetVar, so your "when variable changes" triggers fire exactly as they would in the course. • Unlock restricted menus and seekbars Jump around a course that uses a Restricted or Locked menu, or drag a read-only seekbar, without republishing. Switch it off and your course's own settings come back. • Jump to any slide Browse every slide by scene, including slides that aren't in the player menu, and go straight to any of them. • Save and restore scenarios Snapshots save every project variable plus the slide you're on. Restore one to jump straight back to a tricky test case, or export snapshots as a file to share with your team. • See the current slide and its layers Slide number, title and ID at a glance, with every layer listed and buttons to show or hide them. • Keep a change log Every variable change is recorded with the time, the slide, and whether it came from the course or from you. Copy it or save it as a text file for bug reports. • Check quiz answers while you review On quiz slides and graded knowledge checks, see the correct answer to each question. This only works in Review 360 and local previews, never in an LMS, so learners can't use it on live assessments. HOW IT WORKS The extension finds the Storyline player in the current tab, even when the course is inside frames, as it is in Review 360 and most LMSs. The first time you use it on a site, it asks for permission to access that site only. Chrome remembers your choice, and you can remove access at any time. PRIVACY Course Debugger for Storyline collects no data. Nothing is sent anywhere. Snapshots, the change log and settings are stored only in your own browser. GOOD TO KNOW • Works with Storyline courses published for web (HTML5). • Variable viewing and editing use Storyline's standard JavaScript functions. Navigation unlocks, slide jumping, layer controls and quiz answers rely on how the Storyline player works internally, so a future Storyline update could affect them until the extension is updated. • Changes only affect your own browser session. Your published course files are never modified. Made by Visual-e-Learning LLC — visual-e-learning.com Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Articulate Global, LLC.
