Apilingual
Overview
Learn languages while you watch: Netflix subtitles colored by what you know, tap-to-save vocabulary, and YouTube caption import.
Learn languages from the videos you already love to watch. Apilingual connects the videos you watch to your own language learning. It works in two ways, depending on where you are watching: IMPORT A LESSON (YouTube) Turn the captions of a video into an interactive lesson you can study, review, and practice with, right inside your Apilingual account. Instead of passively watching, you get real sentences from authentic, native content to build vocabulary and grammar that actually sticks. 1. Open a video in your target language. 2. Click the Apilingual icon in your toolbar. 3. Pick your course and caption language, then send it to Apilingual. 4. Study the sentences as a guided lesson: tap words for translations, track what you've learned, and practice. WATCH MODE (Netflix) Study while you watch, without leaving the show. Watch Mode adds a live learning layer to the subtitles: - WORD COLORING: Subtitles are colored by YOUR knowledge. Words you know stay quiet, words you're learning are highlighted, and new words stand out. Apilingual already knows your vocabulary from your reading and lessons, so the show becomes part of the same learning journey. - TAP ANY WORD: See its meaning in the context of that exact sentence. Choose the right meaning and save it, and the word joins your Apilingual vocabulary together with the sentence from the show, ready for spaced-repetition review. - DUAL SUBTITLES: See the original subtitles and a translation line in your language at the same time, using the platform's own professional subtitle tracks. Toggle either line, swap their order, and size them independently. ONE VOCABULARY, EVERY ACTIVITY Words you save while watching appear in your Apilingual vocabulary alongside words saved while reading and studying lessons. Your progress follows you everywhere. Supports learners of German, Spanish, French, Italian, Turkish, and Danish. You'll need a free Apilingual account (apilingual.com), and Watch Mode works with your own Netflix subscription. Apilingual works with caption/subtitle text for your personal language study. It does not download, host, or redistribute video content, and it does not store transcripts or subtitles of the shows you watch. Availability note: word coloring and tap-to-save work on any Netflix title with subtitles in your target language. The translation line requires the platform to offer subtitles in your language for that title; where it doesn't, we'll tell you clearly and everything else keeps working.
