Overview

Analyzes the reasoning quality of any web page. Detects logical flaws, not facts.

Elenchus reads the page you are on and tells you whether its argument holds together. It is not a fact-checker. It never rules on whether a claim is true. It looks at one thing only: whether the conclusions actually follow from what the author put on the page. A piece can be entirely factual and still reason badly, and that is the gap Elenchus is built for. WHAT YOU GET • Logical flaws — each one quoted verbatim from the page, named in plain language, rated for severity, with a note on what it does to the author's case. • A reasoning score — strong, moderate, or weak. • Strengths — what the piece does well logically. If there is nothing, it says nothing rather than inventing a compliment. Quotes are always left in the page's original wording, so you can find them yourself and disagree with the verdict. HOW IT WORKS Click the Elenchus icon on any article. That click, and only that click, gives it access to that one tab. There is no background monitoring and no standing access to your browsing. FREE, OR BRING YOUR OWN KEY Works immediately with no account and no API key: 21 analyses per day through a small proxy. On this free tier the page text is sent to model providers that may log it and train on it, so the extension warns you before every analysis and you should not point it at confidential pages. For unlimited use, add your own API key instead. The settings page lists the model services Elenchus can work with. Those requests go straight from your browser to the service you chose and never touch the proxy. ENGLISH AND FRENCH Both the interface and the analysis. Follows your browser by default; either can be pinned in settings. Named after the Socratic elenchus — the method of testing a claim by questioning it until it either holds or breaks.
