Your friends read them normally. The platform carries ciphertext it cannot decrypt. No new app to convince anyone to install. Ekko works on top of the chats you already use: Instagram DMs are supported today, with WhatsApp Web, Telegram Web, and Messenger in beta. A manual seal-and-open tool covers everything else. HOW IT WORKS • Your keys are generated on your device and never leave it—not to us, not to anyone. • Messages are sealed with hybrid post-quantum encryption: X25519 plus ML-KEM-768 and XChaCha20-Poly1305. Recorded traffic remains private even against future quantum computers. • A small lock beside the composer shows exactly what state a chat is in. Ekko never guesses a recipient. If it cannot confirm whom you are talking to, it tells you and pauses. TWO WAYS TO USE IT • Claim a handle: Friends find you by @name, and chats encrypt automatically once you connect. • Stay a ghost: No account and no sign-in. Trade keys directly. We never even learn that you exist. WHAT EKKO NEVER SEES Your private keys, your messages, or your contacts. The optional directory stores public keys only. Optional account backups are encrypted on your device using a passphrase that we never see. HONEST LIMITS Ekko protects message content, not metadata. The platform can still see who talks to whom and when. If your device itself is compromised, no extension can protect you. The full threat model is written in plain language. OPEN SOURCE Every line is public at github.com/useekko. Ekko is GPL-licensed. You can read the code, build it yourself, or run your own key directory.
