Speak My Vibe lets you highlight any complex paragraph, technical jargon, or long block of text on a webpage and explain it instantly in a style that clicks for you. Processed entirely locally on your device using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model, your browsing data never leaves your computer, ensuring complete privacy. HOW TO USE 1. Open any ordinary website, such as a news article or a Wikipedia page. 2. Highlight the text you want explained. 3. Click the Speak My Vibe action icon in your toolbar to open the side panel. Your highlighted text appears in the panel. 4. Select your desired style pill (or choose "Custom" to type your own instruction). 5. Click "Explain Selection" to see the explanation stream in real-time. 6. Use the speech controls bar at the bottom to play, pause, adjust speed, or choose a voice. 7. Click the settings gear icon to configure auto-play, voice preferences, or check on-device model status. REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITS • Chrome 138 or later on desktop, with Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano) available. The first explanation may trigger a one-time model download, and the panel shows its progress. • Like every Chrome extension, it cannot read Chrome's own pages: the Chrome Web Store, the New Tab page, chrome:// settings pages, and other extensions' pages. Use it on a regular website. The panel tells you when you are on a page Chrome blocks. PRIVACY All text processing and explanation generation are executed locally on your device. No selections, custom inputs, or summaries are transmitted off-device, guaranteeing complete data privacy. PERMISSIONS • "Read and change data on sites you visit" — needed to retrieve text highlights from the page when you click "Explain Selection". • "tts" — needed to read explanations aloud using your system's built-in text-to-speech engine. • "storage" — needed to persist your settings, custom prompt default instructions, and auto-play configuration.
