Organize your browser tabs automatically and save memory
Automatically organize your tabs by hostname with just one click! ** If you’re using the mobile version of Google Chrome, please make sure to disable Automatically open tab groups from other devices in Settings → Tabs to avoid seeing too many tab groups in the mobile Chrome tab bar. Or Settings -> Your account name -> Disable "History and Tabs". Then tab groups from desktop won't sync to your mobile. Also supports custom grouping via drag & drop and lets you set your own group names for full control. Tabs that have been inactive for a week will automatically move to an "Inactive" group, helping you keep your browser clean and organized. Easily adjust the inactivity duration from the settings page or select "Never" to disable the feature. Adding “*” to the beginning of a group name prevents it from being moved to the inactive group if you just want to do it for a few groups. Inactivity timing begins from extension installation for pre-existing tabs, or from tab creation or last interaction for newer tabs. Memory Saver Tabs in the "Inactive" group can be automatically unloaded to save memory—enable this feature from the options. Recent Updates: Version 2.5 URL-based tab sorting Tabs inside each group now sort by URL instead of title, keeping pages with identical names ordered predictably. Version 2.4 Unique tabs now use ● The unique tabs group now shows a bullet (●) and sorts first via a special key so it stays predictably at the front. Sort tabs within groups New context menu action to alphabetically sort tabs inside each group. Version 2.3 Inactive duration now flexible Inactive Duration is now a combo box: pick common values (Never, 1, 7, 14, 21, 30, 60, 90 days) or type any number you like. Type “Never” to keep inactive grouping off. Alphabetical tab group ordering After grouping finishes, tab groups are reordered in ASCII alphabetical order so names line up predictably across windows. Version 2.2 Protected groups with * Groups whose names start with * will never have their tabs moved to Inactive, so you can pin important workgroups in place. Version 2.1 Smarter group prefixes Auto-generated group names now extend beyond three characters or add numeric suffixes to avoid collisions in future grouping passes. Version 2.0 Added tutorial video Fixed subdomain naming bug Custom names now stick after regrouping, and default labels for subdomains use the main site instead of a generic prefix. Version 1.9 Group Tabs from All Windows You can now consolidate and group tabs from all open windows into a single main window. Right-click the extension icon and select 'Group Tabs from All Windows'. The main window is determined by which has the most pinned tabs, or the oldest window as a tie-breaker. Version 1.8 Added "Share this Extension" option to the context menu Easily share this extension with your friends! You can now find a "Share this Extension" option in the extension's context menu (right-click the extension icon in your toolbar). Clicking it will open a small window with a link to the extension's store page, ready to be copied and shared. Version 1.7 Bug fix -- Tab Count doesn't Update Fixed an issue where tab group names were not updating properly when tabs were added, removed, or moved between groups. Tab group names will now automatically update to show the current number of tabs in each group. Version 1.6 Group Renaming You can now rename your tab groups directly, and the extension will remember your custom names even after browser restarts. Simply right-click on a group, choose "Rename", and enter your preferred name. Your custom name will be applied every time tabs from the same host are grouped together. Host Organization Improvements The extension now better tracks tabs when they're dragged in and out of groups. When you drag a tab out of a group, its hostname will no longer be associated with that group, ensuring proper organization of your tabs based on your actions. Version 1.5 New Feature: Automatically unload inactive tabs to reduce memory usage. Unloaded tabs remain visible but won't use resources until clicked. Enable this in settings by selecting "Automatically unload tabs in inactive groups." Version 1.4 Added localization support. Version 1.3 Added a settings page to configure inactive time and other preferences. Fixed a bug that caused group names and the last open tab times to be lost when Chrome restarted. Version 1.2 Resolved an issue where group names would disappear after a few hours of inactivity when not using Google Chrome.
