FloatTube is a browser extension that delivers a smoother YouTube web viewing experience, with experimental support for Netflix and Bilibili. Watch videos while browsing comments and other on-page content. With the in-page floating player and automatic Picture-in-Picture (PiP), you can keep watching without interrupting playback. Core features: In-page floating player Enjoy smooth, continuous playback with the video always visible on the page. - Appears automatically when you scroll down on a video watch page - Drag and resize freely (trackpad pinch on Mac; mouse wheel on Windows) - Supports captions and YouTube’s special caption effects Automatic Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Automatically moves the playing video to Picture-in-Picture when you switch tabs. - Shows YouTube captions in Picture-in-Picture - Switch to system PiP during playback for continuous floating viewing --- About automatic Picture-in-Picture Automatic PiP is a browser capability provided by Chrome. It requires Chrome 134 or later. A tab switch is only allowed to trigger automatic PiP when the watch page had audible sound in the past two seconds, audio is not muted or taken by the system, and the video is playing. Before triggering, FloatTube checks conditions automatically. If captions were on before switching tabs, it draws captions into PiP. For videos without captions enabled or protected by DRM, the original video enters PiP directly. Notes: - This extension works on YouTube video pages, with experimental support for Netflix and Bilibili. - To show captions in PiP, enable captions on YouTube first by clicking the CC button. Shortcut: C - After installing or updating, refresh any already-open YouTube video pages so the floating player activates correctly. --- About Labs YouTube remains the primary experience, with experimental support for Netflix and Bilibili. Features may change as those sites update. To keep the core YouTube experience stable, Labs features run fully separate from main features and do not affect each other.
